What is the donation for the feast?

There is a small, not so famous, orphanage in the Indian town of Dhar (Madhya Pradesh). This orphanage has ties with a local bank, where anyone can set up a fixed deposit. Usually for around $225 (equivalent to 15K INR) fix deposit earns enough interest to sponsor a day of feast for the kids in the orphanage.

Your fund lasts forever & never runs out. Because the orphanage uses only the interest generated by your fixed deposit. Year after year these kids at orphanages get to feast on a certain day. You can decide the day for example on your kid’s b’day.

How much minimum can you donate?

No donation is small, no donation is minimum. As you can donate even one single dollar (yes $1). We accumulate these fund until it reaches a reasonable amount. Then we either buy something for kids or we add towards making another fixed deposit for the annual feast.

For example, say if you pay $10, it can buy about 5–6 flip-flops for kids. On my last visit, I noted most kids don’t even have basic footwear. They ran around barefoot everywhere. You can see that yourself in both pictures.

One caretaker (originally from London). She recently passed away, was a great devotee.

More about this orphanage

It’s called “Anand anaath ashram” located at the outskirt of the city Dhar, about 40 miles from Indore. Note that the structure that you see in the picture behind kids, is an actual orphanage building. It was donated by someone along with the farming land attached to it. Caretakers grow vegetables, and crops in the field to consume for daily operations. The building structure itself is barely maintained as there is always a shortage of funds.

Now some more people started connecting with this orphanage donating material/food & cash. Also, several local doctors in Dhar have created fixed deposits to sponsor the feast once a year. As a result, these kids are now getting feasted a few times a year.

Are we any organization / any middleman?

No, while there may be some organizations that help this orphanage. But my effort is direct and individual. There is no firm, there is no middleman. I usually personally go and shop for kids, then hand-deliver it for them. Or go to the bank and create the fixed deposit.

Is receipt provided?

Yes for any donation of $5 and above, a receipt will be provided.

But I like to donate to the temple.

Really? do you believe there is any shortage of resources in temples? Lots of people flock to the temple to donate hoping to make God happy. That’s very wrong, if at all there is any direct way to connect with God, it is through these kids. Instead of throwing your money where everyone does, please please please donate where it matters the most.
